Genealogy

In addition to the files that have been submitted by individuals and are listed below, there are two other Sloper WEB sites that contain genealogy information and are recommended for Slopers outside the United States:

The New Zealand WEB site, which is very comprehensive, at: http://www.geocities.com/Heartland/Village/2123/sloper/sloper.html and the

The English WEB site at: http://www.theslopers.co.uk/

Technical Notes Concerning Submitted Files

* There is no one "master" family tree of all Slopers, although the New Zealand WEB site comes close. Rather, there are several separate family trees that have been compiled and each is offered for your research "as is". If you have a correction to an entry, contact the person who submitted the files. Your WEB Master is not wise enough to be an arbiter for all Sloper genealogy.

* The family tree information is supplied in a common report format (.rft) that can be read by most text processing programs, including Microsoft Word and Corel Word Perfect, in order to make the information available to the widest possible number of people.

* Individuals actively engaged in Genealogic research use a variety of data bases, including Genealogical Data Communications (GEDCOM), Personal Ancestral File (.PAF) and Family Tree Maker (.FTW). Supplying data in one of these formats would require individuals to buy the appropriate computer program to read the files, which would place an unnecessary restriction upon making the data available to the broadest possible audience. If you have a need for this type of information, contact the individual who submitted the data. You may get lucky.

The following "Family Genealogies" are offered for your research and represents the best effort of many persons, primarily in the United States, who gathered, shared, added and corrected available information. However, tracing Genealogy is an art not a science that involves many old, hard to read, handwritten records. While most individuals have been extremely cautious in making only reasonable assumptions, the following should be regarded as a best effort, subject to further corrections and changes as rediscovered material becomes available.

We invite each of you to become a contributor to this effort, because the additional material is not always found in official records, but in various individual's attics and old trunks. Submit your contributions to Sloper@Sloper.org
